Elevating Classroom Standards: How ECCO Foundation Champions Inclusive Language Literacy and Teacher Capacity Building in NTB

Access to high-quality language training and modern pedagogical frameworks is vital to preparing regional youth for a globalized future. To build a stronger educational foundation in West Nusa Tenggara, ECCO Foundation deployed a dual-track educational strategy in 2024: expanding free English Proficiency Training for grassroots students and hosting intensive Capacity Building Workshops for Educators.

By working simultaneously with students and teachers, ECCO Foundation is successfully constructing a comprehensive, sustainable learning ecosystem that integrates global language skills with local community values.

1. English Proficiency Training: Breaking Language Barriers

Traditional, high-quality English courses are often costly and concentrated in urban centers, leaving rural youth at a disadvantage. To ensure equal access, ECCO Foundation established weekly language classes held every Saturday at the Genggelang Village Auditorium and EC Gondang in North Lombok.

Designed as a low-friction, high-impact initiative, the program offers continuous linguistic training tailored to the developmental needs of both primary school (SD) and high school (SMA) students.

Key Program Milestones:

  • Widespread Impact: Over 100 local students actively attended and completed the language proficiency tracks.
  • Socioeconomic Inclusivity: Provided rural primary and secondary students with free, barrier-free access to fluent English speakers and academic learning modules.
  • Fiscal Accountability: The entire program was executed 100% on budget, proving the efficiency of ECCO Foundation's grassroots deployment models.

2. Teacher Capacity Building: Integrating the 5P Core Values

An educational ecosystem can only grow as fast as its teachers. Throughout August, September, and November 2024, ECCO Foundation organized a series of specialized training platforms for local educators. These workshops aimed to upgrade modern classroom management techniques while seamlessly weaving 5P core values (Peace, Prosperity, People, Planet, and Partnership) directly into public school curriculums.

Beyond standard classrooms, these weekly training series extended critical development opportunities to youth and community workers across multiple social sectors:

  • 20 Certified Educators successfully completed the advanced 5P integration course.
  • 20 Local Youth Leaders participated directly, gaining vital peer-mentorship skills.
  • 80 Professional Individuals operating within the regional hospitality and service sector received targeted communication training to boost local eco-tourism interactions.

Through this systemic approach, ECCO Foundation is transforming regional classrooms into centers of progressive, value-driven global education.
